A Little Louder Episode 79: 7 questions for low-income housing that need answers in 2026

In 2026, much of the ground work will be laid for our next state legislative session next year. The next few months are a critical period where advocates for low-income housing must organize, gather ideas, and meet with policy leaders to assess the biggest issues facing our most vulnerable populations.

Texas Housers’ research director Ben Martin joins the show to talk about his recent write-up on our website that asks the 7 most critical questions needed to improve low-income housing in our state. We cover a wide range of topics including federal disinvestment in low-income housing and how the Texas should fill the gap, who will be the fighters for low-income households at the Texas Legislature, what will we do to address our growing disaster recovery problems, and much more.

As always, you can listen to “7 questions for low-income housing that need answers in 2026” below or wherever you get your podcasts.
