We can all live in a
safe, decent, affordable home.
We just need
A Houser In Every Room
to get there.
Become a sustainable supporter to our A Houser In Every Room campaign and join the housing justice movement. Your contribution multiplies when it
arrives every month.
Housing is a Human Right. Housing Justice is a movement.
We achieve Housing justice for all Texans through building power with the community, collecting person-centered data, and moblizing advocacy efforts in the halls of government. Texas Housers believes in the inherent dignity of all people and the collective power of the people. Texas Housers’ mission is to ensure that Texans everywhere have a safe, decent, and affordable place to live of their choosing.
And you can join us as a Houser too.
What is a Houser?
A “Houser” is someone who cares about the rights of every neighbor to live safely and securely in their homes.
That’s it.
As a Houser, you are a part of a movement and an active member in the community. Supporting the A Houser In Every Room campaign ensures that we are able to continue to build collective power and impact housing policy throughout the state.
We are better together.
This is what community can give you
The great thing about being a Houser is there are so many opportunities to act. Here are just a few of the ways that your contribution helps in the fight for Housing Justice (and many where you can join in too).
Advocacy
and Coalition Building
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
Texas Housers leads a diverse coalition of advocates working to advance housing justice policy for low-income Texans. Our statewide advocacy is rooted in the lived experiences of low-income community members and informed by person-centered research and data collection. We partner with advocates who are mission aligned and working to promote equitable housing policy and the housing justice movement.
Research, Data and
Information Hub
Texas Housers study and analyze the housing landscape for low-income Texans. We believe it’s important to use data to support the stories of people living in poverty and bring attention to the disparate impact on marginalized communities. and expose the inequities we find to share for the masses. We work to get this data in the hands of community members, policy makers and community stakeholders to impact change.
Data is power.
Community Organizing and
Building Power
Every meaningful social change has happened because of the power of people. Texas Housers believe that those closest to the problem are also closest to the solutions. Texas Housers has centered people power since our founding, and people power will move us towards justice. Our approach to community organizing and power building puts directly impacted community members at the center and ensures that community action and advocacy efforts are co-created and community-led.
Nothing about us, without us.

When you become a Houser, you don’t just give. You’re gaining a whole group of community members ready to make change.
“A Houser in Every Room means that you are safe. You know that you have the freedom to express your needs and have them met by someone who shares your vision for a more connected community.”
– Isla Ruiz, Texas Housers team member
